Despite being overwhelming outsiders to progress past the Quarter Finals of this years Champions League, Manchester United have left themselves with a good chance of progressing after the first leg at Old Trafford last night. Despite Bayern Munich holding 74% of the possession and making 767 passes, they left the Theatre of Dreams with just the one away goal. In saying that it still forces United to be a little more adventurous in the second leg than they were last night if they are to get the goals they need to go through.
Despite all the possession Bayern contained it was United who had the best chance of the first half and who went ahead from an exquisite header from captain Nemanja Vidic. After the game Vidic said they have the pace to hurt Bayern in the second leg and make it to the semi-finals....

Photography - Vilnius
Kęstutis Stoškus is a Lithuanian architectural photographer and museum curator. He graduated in economics from the University of Vilnius in 1973 and has worked as a photographer since 1985. He is known as a master of black-and-white photography and prefers to focus on the architectural aspects of Vilnius, continuing the tradition of other photographers closely related to the city. Stoskus' photographs of buildings are often captured up close to highlight its scale, detail and decor. He takes advantage of the the hills surrounding the city to capture the essence of the city from above.
It is clear to see from the exhibition that Stoskus' interest is in highlighting the beautiful architecture of the city, rather than the daily lives of its inhabitants. This is evident by the way he blurs out the rare appearance of people in his photographs. The exhibition also gives off the impression that Vilnius is very much a religious city. The regular appearance of cathedrals, churches and graveyards gives testament to this. The images of run-down parts of the city also lend weight to it being religious, as religion would have prospered in the more poverty stricken areas. Another reason for Stoskus' to photograph these areas could possibly be to capture them before they disappear in an ever modernising world.
The above photograph is one of Rasu Cemetery in Vilnius, taking by Stoskus. It was taking during the winter and the presence of the snow against the black-and-white imagery makes the photograph stand out and draws you in. The scattered headstones and the overhanging trees bring a somewhat eerie feel but at the same time could also be interpreted as peaceful.

Sport - Ref loses his head during game

A referee has reportedly been beheaded during an amateur game in Brazil. The referee was seemingly attacked by fans in retaliation to him stabbing one of the players.
The incident, which occurred in the Pius XII stadium last Sunday, began when referee Octavio da Silva Catanhede Jordan, 20, sent off Josenir dos Santos Abreu, 30. The player, who disagreed with the sending off, refused to leave the field and began insulting the referee. The referee was allegedly carrying a knife during the game and stabbed him.
Spectators reacted furiously to this and entered the pitch to enact their own brand of revenge. According to reports in Brazil, the referee was tied up and stoned to death. His body was then quartered (cut into 4 parts) and his head decapitated in mindless fashion.
It is also alleged that his head was then impaled onto a stake and displayed in the middle of the pitch. The player was taking to hospital but was later confirmed to have died from his injuries.
A 27-year-old man was later arrested and police are searching for two more suspects.
Police chief Valter Costa said: "Reports of witnesses have indicated some people that were in the place at the time of the incident. We will identify and hold accountable all those involved.
"One crime never justifies another crime. Actions likes this do not collaborate with the legality of state law."
Who'd be a referee!!!
